Three Easy Mods to Take Your Chrysler Prowler Performance to the Next Level
Your Prowler is a retro Chrysler sports car with serious hot-rod potential; its performance customization prospects are as wide as the strip is long. Here are three key upgrades you should consider for your next project.
1. Install a Cold Air Intake
Prowler came standard with a 214-horsepower, 3.5-liter V6 until 1999, when its horsepower rose to 253. That may be plenty for a two-door, but you can get a little bigger bump if you want it, and efficiently to boot: just swap your stock air intake for a cold air intake. That'll enable the engine to pull in freer-flowing (denser and cooler, therefore, better-quality) air for combustion -- just what you need for the richer air-to-fuel ratio to deliver a few extra horses.
2. Put in a Performance Air Filter
Your factory engine air filter will capture pollutants as they enter the motor, sure. A performance air filter, though, can give your Prowler an even better balance of filtration and airflow. Put simply, it'll help further enrich that gas-and-oxygen mix, meaning you'll get better combustion.
3. Update the Exhaust
Modding the exhaust will open up the exhaust pipe for more and better airflow, but if you opt for a cat-back exhaust, on top of giving you larger-diameter tubes and a muffler with better exhaust flow, it'll reduce weight, too.
